On Wednesday, July 13, the Parish of St. Paul-St. Ann will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Our Lady of Fatima Novena. All are invited to the service and the picnic that follows.
The ceremonies will begin at St. Paul’s Church at 5 p.m. with the presentation of flowers before the image of Mary as Our Lady of Fatima. Mass will follow at 5:15, and after that, there will be an outdoor rosary procession around the block.
The day will conclude with a picnic in the church back parking lot with hot dogs, hamburgers, other hot food, and a whole roasted pig! There will be ice cream and watermelon for dessert. Entertainment -- Spanish and traditional Philippine folk dancing -- and a raffle will be part of the festivities, with line dancing at the end of the evening. Please bring a chair.
The Novena was brought to St. Paul’s by former pastor Fr. Arthur Mastrolia in 2006. It continues to be held every Wednesday evening at St. Paul’s Church at 6 p.m.
The Our Lady of Fatima Novena is a devotion in response to the message of Our Blessed Mother when she appeared to three children in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. Our Lady called for penance, frequent recitation of the rosary, and prayer for the conversion of sinners and for world peace.
